I started on this new journey of working out and trying to eat better in January of this year. So far I have lost 20 lbs of fat and gained 10 lbs of muscle. I really want to slim down and lose inches. What did I do? I had been working out at a circuit training gym four times a week for 1 hour each time. I have since quit that gym because of the cost and have gone to a regular gym. So now I am on my own wondering to myself of what I need to do during my workout sessions.
I read somewhere that it takes 4 weeks for you notice your progress, 8 weeks for your partner to notice, and 12 weeks for everyone else. So my thoughts on this are to give it at least 12 weeks of running and working out strong. No quitting! Just keep on going even when I have a bad day. Just get up the next day and do it all over again until I reach my goal. The problem is most of us get discouraged very quickly because we want results now, we want to lose weight now, we want to be at our goal now. This is a long process which must be taken seriously and must be repeated daily with eating and weekly with working out. It's a commitment that will give results, just not as fast as we all hope it would be. If it wasn't, then we would all be skinny and look like models from taking a pill or following a fad diet!
I began running, which I HATE! LOL I started with the concept of interval running. I tried the suggested 2 minute light job to sprint to jog to walk and am happy to announce that after two weeks, I am no longer walking in between my light jogging and running. What I am doing now:
2 minutes of walking at 3.5
2 minutes of jogging at 4.5
2 minutes of running at 5.5
2 minutes of jogging at 4.5
2 minutes of running at 5.5
2 minutes of running at 6.5
2 minutes of running at 5.5
2 minutes of running at 6.5
Then I just repeat these steps until I hit 28 minutes. Then do a 2 minute cool down at 4.0 or walk it at 3.5. Then I transfer to the bicycle and do 20 minutes of interval hills. There is a program on the cycle at my gym. By the time I am done I have burned 400 calories!!!
